Seadragon is a technology from Microsoft that enabling web experiences where graphics and photos are smoothly browsed, regardless of the amount of data or the bandwidth of the network.

You can create Seadragon applications with Silverlight (with Deep Zoom) or by JavaScript (with Seadragon Ajax).

What Seadragon Provides?

Speed of navigation independent of the size or number of objects.

Performance that depends only on the ratio of bandwidth to pixels on the screen.

Smooth, continuous, transitions.

Rapid, near perfect scaling for screens of any resolution.

There are number of applications that use Seadragon technology, we will review them in a future posts.

In addition you can paste an image URL and share it with a link or by embed to your site or blog. Very nice and easy.

Pattie Maes and Pranav Mistry demo SixthSense at “TED” (www.ted.com).

This demo — from Pattie Maes’ lab at MIT, spearheaded by Pranav Mistry — was the buzz of TED. It’s a wearable device with a projector that paves the way for profound interaction with our environment. Imagine “Minority Report” and then some.

With this device we can get online informationon a product at a supermarket, view his rate with our own criterion. We can get information on a person we just met and his tag cloud, online Amazon information about a book we want to buy, take a picture with our hands only, get information about our flight directly on our flight ticket or dial from our hand.

This technology is in the lab for now but there is no doubt that an interesting future is waiting for us. The great thing is that this technology will be available in the future in a prices like any other mobile phone.

Wordpress is a free open source platform that gives you an ability to open your own free blog in a few simple steps. We collect here for you a collection of websites that show recommended Wordpress themes to view and install on your server. We hope it will help you to find your best theme.

How to Choose a Theme?

There is a lot of websites in the net that show a long lists of themes, some of this sites are great and some just boring. Our target is to find a theme that fits our needs. We collect here numbers of points you can take the road:

First of all we recommend to look for themes in a websites that designed well and you feel good about it, the design is welcome – in the end you want to choose a design so why not get inspiration from the beggining.

Websites that view big thumbnails will save you a lot of time, you can just skip other themes that you don’t like and unclick them. A good thumbnail will cache your eye immidiatly.

It is recommend to download a theme from a site that gives you a demo or a preview of the theme. This possibility will save you time of installation on your server.

It is recommend to read what other people think of the theme, sometimes you can read things that you we did not think about them.

A search engine with a keyword search, categories and sections can will help focus our search.

In some websites you can see the numbers if the theme downloads and the theme ratting.

Attention!!! Take a look at the theme license. There is themes that you can download for free, on others you will asked to put a link back and some used licenses like GPL and more. Always you can pay and buy a theme that include support.

Embed Your YouTube Movie in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007

If you want to embed a movie from You Tube into your Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 document, this tutorial is for you.

A lot of times we want to make a nice and colorful presentation, we insert nice images and added some great animations. Now we want to add a movie that we uploaded to You Tube or add someone else that share is movie.

Follow those simple steps and you could add your movie in a few minutes.

Step 1: Beginning

Go to YouTube (www.youtube.com) and open your favorite movie.

Step 2

Click on the icon next to the Embed code.

Step 3

A properties box will open with interface settings:

Include related videos after the video ends.
Show or hide the border of the video player.
Enable delayed cookies – more details here.
Change the color of the player.
Choose the size that fit your needs.

I will go here with the default settings.

Step 4

Click inside the URL text box, the text will be highlight. Right click on the highlight text and choose Copy.

O.K. you have done using YouTube website, you can close it and go to a break and drink some coffee.

Your break is done. It’s time to finish your presentation.

Step 5

Open Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 and make a new slide.

Go to the Developer tab (if you can’t see the developer tab, click on the Office Button → PowerPoint Options and check the “Show Developer tab in the Ribbon”, click OK and you’ll see the new tab), click on the More Controls icon.

Step 6

A pop up window will open. Select “Shockwave Flash Object” and click OK.

Step 7

Draw a rectangle inside the slide, when done you’ll get this result.

Step 8

Right click inside the rectangle and click on Properties. Inside the pop up properties window go the “Movie” property and Paste the URL that you copied from You Tube.

Step 9

This is the most important step, we need to change the pasted URL a bit. Delete “watch?” and replace “=” with “/“.

This is the result.

Step 10: Final

That’s it, close the window and run the Slide Show in a full window.

You can change some more settings in the properties window. Play with them as see what they can do for you.

his article is the first of a series of articles about SharePoint web sites and templates.

I was collecting a list of web sites that was hosted on Office SharePoint 2007 Server, I think that it is good to take a look on different SharePoint websites before starting to make your own.

Take a look at the design, creative, user interface, layouts and some add-ons and I hope you get some tips.

This list collect web sites from the Education field, in the future articles I’ll post more fields.
